On the RadioBrian and I launched the HUNTERS OF DUNE book-signing tour with a whole series of early-morning TV interviews (see the August 21 blog entry). So it was only fitting that we put an end to these weeks of promotion and touring with another early morning series of interviews, this time on the radio. On Tuesday, Sept 12, I flew back home from Reno, NV. My plane was supposed to arrive in Denver at 11:30 PM, which was already a late hour. Unfortunately, due to storms in Chicago, my outbound plane was delayed, and so I didn't actually get home and into bed until 3:30 AM. Then the alarm rang at 5:15 AM so I could get ready for the first of seven back-to-back radio interviews that ran most of the morning. I was supposed to be coherent and talk to live audiences on less than two hours' sleep. At least, thanks to the magic of radio, I could stay in my pajamas and slurp on a cup of coffee. I knew that Brian had a similar schedule all day as well. The first interview was at 5:50 AM in Hartford, Connecticut. At 7:10 I was supposed to be on in Baltimore, Maryland ... But the interviewer's phone line was busy, and busy, and busy until well into the scheduled interview time. This was rather nerve-wracking, since I had another interview only ten minutes later, at 7:20, on a national syndicated show. We managed to juggle the interviews, and I called back to Baltimore and got the other one in. Then at 7:40 I was on in Chicago. At 8:30 I was talking to Minneapolis, and finally at 10:30 I was on in Colorado Springs. And I was done -- but after drinking so many cups of coffee, I was still very tired but unable to go back to sleep. So I spent the day rather bleary-eyed, editing METAL SWARM. -- KJA
