Timeweb Goes Into Second PrintingThis spring, Kevin and I have been putting the finishing touches on Hunters of Dune, which is scheduled for publication in August. Timeweb, the first book of my own series, was published by Five Star Books in May. Shortly after going to press, the publisher received strong reviews and advance orders on the book, so they immediately went into a second printing. Library Journal: Like his father, Frank, Herbert demonstrates his skill as a convincing storyteller with a talent for creating intriguing alien species and admirable heroes. This promising beginning to a panoramic, far-future series belongs in most sf collections. Romance Reviews Today: Creating a world loosely based on the culture of Renaissance Italy for humans, Timeweb contains varied creatures and cultures involved in numerous plots and subplots, designed to lead the reader into the following books in ther series. Mr. Herbert has taken care to create a detailed world with many complex relationships. . . . Readers who have followed my novels for the last twenty years will see the further development of several important themes in my new series, including ecology, consumer issues, politics, philosophy, and religion. Timeweb is also filled with plenty of action, as the entire galaxy is crumbling for environmental reasons, threatening to hurl all life into the nether world of the undergalaxy. In between Dune deadlines, I've been completing The Web and the Stars, which is Book 2 of the Timeweb Chronicles. The new novel is more 130,000 words long now, and will be sent to the publisher by June 30th. Then Kevin and I will complete Sandworms of Dune, scheduled for publication in 2007. -- BH
