Hunters of Dune Released

Brian and I did our first signing for HUNTERS OF DUNE at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore in San Diego on the day of the book launch.

Brian, Jan, and I drove down from Hollywood to San Diego, while Rebecca flew in directly to San Diego from Denver to meet up with us and start the tour. We had just spent two nights in a fabulous old Hollywood hotel (I had a spectacular two-story suite that had once been used by Rudolf Valentino; Brian and Jan had another suite where Ginger Rogers had stayed). The staff was efficient and courteous, and our stay was wonderful.

San Diego was a little different. Rebecca arrived from the airport about an hour before we got there by car. The hotel manager wouldn't let her check into our room. I spoke with the manager on the phone and told him it was all right, but he still refused. He needed to see my photo ID before he could release the room. I've never had to show my picture to get a room before, but he said it was "for the security of our guests." (What does that mean? As long as I'm paying for the room, why should he care?) So, after a long day of traveling, Rebecca had to sit with her suitcases in the lobby for an hour, waiting for us.

Mysterious Galaxy, however, always makes us feel very welcome and at home. This is a great independent bookstore, and we have signed here for six of our seven DUNE tours. We had a large crowd, with many familiar faces. We gave a talk, answered questions from the audience, then signed books for a couple of hours. We also autographed many of the books in the store -- AND, the bookstore received many of the special signed-and-numbered copies.

Signed copies are available, and even the signed-and-numbered copies on request while they last. You can order directly from Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore at http://mg.booksense.com/NASApp/store/IndexJsp?s=storeevents&eventId=327871.

Next stop, Anaheim. Tonight we'll be signing at the Barnes & Noble in Huntington Beach. We hope to see some of you there.
